Welcome Sessions
Banyuhay Aotearoa’s Welcome Session is a community orientation and learning event designed to help Filipino migrants — whether newly arrived or long-time residents — navigate life safely and confidently in Aotearoa New Zealand. It offers practical guidance on topics such as community services, employment rights, family well-being, and how to access support when needed.
Through these sessions, we aim to make every Filipino migrant feel seen, supported, and informed — because settling in a new country is not just about finding a job or home, but about building belonging and understanding one’s rights.
These sessions are delivered with the support of government agencies, legal experts, and community organisations, providing reliable and relevant information to help participants protect themselves and others from risks such as exploitation and scams.
We’ve held sessions in Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch, featuring speakers from the New Zealand Police, MBIE, and Layburn Hodgins Lawyers, among others. Attendees often describe the experience as “informative, empowering, and reassuring” — a valuable space not only for newcomers, but for anyone wanting to stay informed, connected, and safe in their communities.
