Our Pillars

We plan and shape our events and activities around three pillars of advocacy to ensure we stay true to our vocation of building a community of Filipino migrants in Aotearoa New Zealand who support each other and work together to keep and protect our shared heritage and history.

Banyuhay ang Kaagapay

Embracing Filipino Migrants in New Zealand

"Kaagapay," a Filipino term meaning to stand by and support others, represents the core mission of Banyuhay Aotearoa. Our organisation is dedicated to embracing Filipino migrants in New Zealand by standing with them, and working together to alleviate their struggles. We recognise the unique challenges and experiences faced by migrants living in New Zealand. Our mission is to create a nurturing and inclusive environment where every member of the Filipino community feels supported, valued, and empowered to thrive in their new home. Through community support and empowerment, we aim to foster a sense of belonging, resilience, and overall well-being among Filipino migrants. We understand the journey of migration can be overwhelming, and we strive to provide the necessary support systems to ease their transition and enhance their quality of life

Pamana ng Lahi

Celebrating and Preserving Filipino Heritage

"Pamana," derived from the Filipino word for heritage, and "lahi," meaning race or people, encapsulate the essence of what our ancestors have bestowed upon us—their language, ancient knowledge, and cultural traditions. Banyuhay Aotearoa is dedicated to celebrating and preserving the rich Filipino heritage by creating events that showcase the vibrant and diverse aspects of Filipino culture in New Zealand.

Kasaysayan ng Lahi

Preserving and Promoting the Truth of Filipino History

"Kasaysayan," derived from the Filipino word for history, and together with the word “lahi” means “the history of our people.” Kasaysayan ng Lahi represents our commitment to preserving and promoting the truth of Filipino history, based on credible sources and evidence. Banyuhay Aotearoa aims to share the stories, experiences, and contributions of Filipinos through a comprehensive and accurate portrayal of their history.
