Santacruzan holds great significance in Filipino culture, traditionally celebrated during the month of May. It is a time-honoured tradition that brings communities together to pay homage to the Blessed Mary, mother of Jesus in the Catholic religion. Banyuhay Aotearoa, would like to preserve and share this cherished Filipino heritage and also use this opportunity to raise funds for our projects and beneficiaries. Santacruzan with a Cause was held on 27 May 2023 and it not only celebrated our cultural heritage but also served as a platform to make a positive impact on the community. The collective effort and generosity of participants, performers, and organisers truly exemplified the spirit of giving back.
The participants of the Santacruzan procession were a sight to behold in their gowns. The event also featured traditional Filipino dances by Samutsari TMP, remarkable song performances by talented individuals like the extraordinary child superstar Raven Cassidy.
In addition to the performances, the event featured exhibits that allowed attendees to explore various facets of Filipino culture. The exhibit showcased Filipino costumes and attire, children's books and Filipino food.
